And what a difference a day makes! I was worried about how to get her into the car to go to the vets so after backing the car as close to the front door as possible, and putting other dog on the lead as though for a walk I ‘invited’ her along to. I expected the usually shaking and crying- she got up and hopped into the car 🙂
Moreover she also got out ok at the other end. She hates the vet so was shaking, but at least no yelping.
A long chat with the vet who also examined her thoroughly. She does have some arthritis, but I knew about that anyway. Nothing else. He said maybe the pain was partly in her head or maybe she had had some mild soft tissue damage. Soft tissue damage wouldn’t show on the X-ray. I was offered an X-ray to check for mets but decided against. I’d rather travel hopefully.
So bloods were tested and chemo (carboplatin) done. Also a drip of extra fluid.
She is now at home- obviously tired but seemingly pain free. Hand fed (yes still) a small meal. I’m not too worried about lack of appetite as Mitch (a previous dog who had osteocarcoma) alsohad a poor appetite for some time. So long as she is eating something.
But tonight I am celebrating. I shall have a proper meal and maybe a glass of wine and watch lots of rubbish on the tv. Tomorrow is another day.
And thank you for your support. It does help. I will update and lets hope with good rather than bad news.
So glad that Abi did well going to the vet today! Sounds like things went as smoothly as they possibly could! Harley just had his second round today…and we are taking thing easy! His tummy get’s a bit upset also…but we make sure he gets extra treats!
Keep up the great posts and treat yourself a wee bit…you deserve it too!
