Another first for Abi

2013-07-07 08.46.30

Abi and friend Jack enjoying ‘the field’. I tried to get an action shot but it turned out a bit weird! For the first time since her op she did her ‘I’m a scary monster who dashes out from the jungle’ thing. Basically, she roots around in the undergrowth and then comes hurtling out of the rough into the open towards you. She was very tired when we got home and stumbled- always scary in case she hurts a leg. But if she can’t play and get tired what quality of life would she have.

I have been trying her on a ready mixed raw food thing (Natures Menu). Not sure if we’ll stick at it as it gives her a touch of runs. We’ll try a bit longer. I may just give her it for the one meal a day and then stick to her normal for the other meal. Thinking even if this diet is not as wonderful as is sometimes claimed, decent quality food can only be a good thing. Abi seems to like the stuff, but Jack does not like it. Also ordered K9 immunity plus.

Abi is an 8 year old greyhound living in Wales, UK. She's a beautiful golden girl who's a bit timid and usually loves her food. She lives with two humans and another greyhound called Jack.

  1. Awww, that’s a fine picture!! You captured the joy of those two perfectly!!

Abi is definitely living life to the fullest! Tell her to take it a little bit easy though—–don’t want t too much wear and tear on those legs! Of course, doubt she’ll liste

Both she and Jack have very stylish collars by the way! Befitting of the royalty they are! You have exquisite dogs and they are very lucky to have you in their lives!!

Yeah, don’t do the raw diet thing myself but do k ow it can have “issues”. Maybe like you said, cutting g back so e. I do the chicken, turkey, etc. but boil them and “undercook” them slightly. I do the K9 plus wafers too. Can’t hurt!!

Love the who derful updates on sweet Abi! She’s such a beautiful girl and it always makes me smile when I see her posts!

You keep on rootn” around Abi and keep on believing you’re a scarey no ster:-) 🙂 (shhhhhh……Jack, can you keep a secret? Don’t tell Abi, but when you’re that pretty, it’s hard to be scarey”)

    Lots of love,

  2. Thank you Sally and Happy Hannan and Fourminipups. Both dogs totally zonked out at present, so taking it easy- Abi struggles with the heat.
Sally and Happy Hannan- Jack’s collar comes from Northwinds, an American company. Abi’s collar was home-made reusing hardware from an old collar- I wanted a pink girly collar for her and couldn’t quite see what I wanted online.

  3. Heee hee that IS a funny picture! But it really shows how much fun they are having. Yay Abi!

As for the runs, you might want to try adding a probiotic into the m ix. They help so much! Our Tripawds Nutrition blog has some great ideas, just search for “probiotic.” Good luck!

  4. Thanks Jerry- Abi’s tum seems more settled today so I may persist. Maybe it was just the change of diet.
